Over-the-top content (OTT) is becoming a challenge not only to television service providers but also to Telecom infrastructure providers.
The statistics show that there is an increase in the demand for multimedia data, besides with strong supports from endpoints equipment such as smart TVs, tablet PCs, smartphones and hybrid STBs has contributed to the promotion of OTT services.
For the past few years, television service providers have been testing OTT services in Vietnam but the service has not been commercialized for some reasons. Until 2014 OTT service providers started charging for OTT services.
In order to ensure the quality of service and user experience with this service, ITC would like to introduce the overall solution for Cisco’s OTT service as follows:
The service delivery system consists of two parts:
– TV signal processing systems to provide OTT services include: Encoders / Transcoders to create different speeds and data packets to provide services.
– CDN Distribution Network: Includes functional devices such as Content Acquirer, Internet Streamer, Service Routing and CDSM management device to perform data distribution, load balancing.
With this solution, the service provider can provide OTT (Live, VoD) services not only to customers in Vietnam but also to Vietnamese customers living overseas or foreign markets.
