The Youngest Member to Achieve PMP Certification at ITC JSC

Ms. Vũ Phương Thúy, Project Management Specialist at ITC JSC, is known for her eagerness to learn, confidence, ability to seize opportunities, and unwavering determination in her work. On August 22, 2018, she impressively passed the prestigious PMP certification exam with a very high score on her very first attempt.

PMP – Project Management Professional – is a highly regarded professional certification in the field of project management, issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA. Today, organizations, corporations, and multinational companies around the world recognize PMP as the gold standard and a measure of professionalism in project management. The PMP certification acknowledges the expertise and knowledge of the holder as a professional in the field.

Overjoyed with the unexpected results, Ms. Thúy shared “After the excitement of achieving this result, I couldn’t help but feel the pressure and concern about how to apply what I’ve learned to my work to bring about meaningful, suitable, and valuable innovations for the company.”

As the first project management specialist at ITC JSC to obtain the PMP certification—and the second PMP holder in the company (the first being Mr. Trần Tự Hiền, an expert in IT service management following ITIL standards)—Ms. Thúy has proven her project management capabilities. This achievement is especially significant during ITC JSC’s transformational phase, as the company is determined to expand its market. According to Ms. Thúy, the key to preparing for the PMP certification is understanding the core nature of processes and workflows in project management as defined by PMI. Simply memorizing content without fully grasping the concepts can lead to misinterpretation of exam questions. Given the vast amount of knowledge involved, study time must be wisely managed. Ms. Thúy added:
“Studying in groups is also very helpful—it helps with long-term retention and better understanding of the material. Finally, having a decent command of English, particularly reading comprehension (a TOEIC score of around 650–700 or higher), is a major advantage. During the exam, time pressure is intense (~1.2 minutes per question) and the questions are relatively long, so poor reading skills in English can significantly slow you down.” Despite her busy schedule, Ms. Thúy made every effort to ensure her study did not interfere with her work responsibilities, studying after hours and ultimately bringing an unexpected joy to not only the company’s leadership but also to all employees.

Mr. Nguyễn Quang Sơn, General Director, presented flowers to congratulate Ms. Vũ Phương Thúy.

For the past 23 years, ITC JSC’s leadership has maintained its cultural values, striving to be a place of growth—where young talents are given opportunities to learn, gain experience, and affirm their capabilities.
